ULUBUDA
University of London Union Buddhist Association (ULUBUDA) is a budding
Buddhist society committed to making the teachings of the Buddha (The
Dharma) available to students in London. Our website is www.ulubuda.org.uk.
We engage in regular Dharma lectures/discussion, meditation and community
service projects. Recently awarded the Best ULU New Society 2004,
we are associated with The Buddhist Society in Victoria, London. The
purpose of the journal (Out.look: Journal to inspire Buddhist Living)
is to encourage students think critically and creatively and apply
the dharma to daily life and contemporary issues. This journal is
sponsored by Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery, Singapore.
Why Out.look?
Out.look has two meanings. First, it encourages deep reflection and
investigation into the truth of something rather than acceptance on
faith, an attitude, which Buddhists call (Ehipassiko), where you are
asked to 'come and see/look'. This spirit of scientific enquiry is
best embodied in Buddha's advice to the Kalama clan in the Kalama
Sutta. Second, it encourages everyone to explore different outlooks
(viewpoints) on contemporary issues. We hope to cultivate some
wisdom through this learning exercise. |
